The “arupemba” – a strainer made of “carnauba”or “buriti” straw –lends its aesthetics and name to the Arupemba swing and chair. The simplicity of the circular artifact used by natives to sift corn and cassava flour is extolled by the symbolic value and flavor of the June festival traditions celebrated all over Brazil.
For this creation, the straw is replaced here by the interlaced naval rope, which is applied on the intricately shaped stainless-steel frame. The result is a furniture that materializes the regional identity, uses traditional knowledge, and brings back references of a distant daily life with a Brazilian flavor.
